Accessibility Statement

At Thorp Coaching, I want this website to be as accessible and easy to use as possible for everyone, including people who are disabled, neurodivergent or who use assistive technology.

Accessibility is not just about technical compliance. It is also about making information clear, reducing unnecessary complexity and giving people enough information to decide what works for them.

I aim to make the website easy to navigate, understand and use. This includes:

  • using clear, straightforward language

  • organising information into manageable sections

  • using meaningful headings

  • providing alternative text for meaningful images

  • avoiding unnecessary visual or cognitive overload

  • making links and calls to action clear

  • designing content with different ways of processing information in mind

Ongoing improvements

I am continuing to review and improve the accessibility of the website. This includes checking heading structures, colour contrast, image descriptions, keyboard navigation, link wording, mobile usability and compatibility with assistive technologies.

There may still be areas of the website that are not as accessible as I would like, and I do not currently claim that every part of the website fully conforms with WCAG 2.2 AA.

Alternative formats and support

If you find anything on this website difficult to access or understand, please contact me.

I am happy to provide information in a different format where reasonably possible, or to discuss another way of accessing the information you need.

The same principle applies to my coaching, workshops and retreats. If you have an access requirement or there is something that would help you take part more comfortably, please let me know. You do not need to disclose a diagnosis in order to ask for an adjustment.

Retreat and in-person accessibility

The Ashdown Forest retreat takes place in a rural setting and the accommodation itself is too small to accommodate wheelchair access and some physical access requirements in the way I would want it to. Unfortunately, the size and structure of the space mean it has not been possible to make the accommodation wheelchair accessible or compliant with the relevant access standards.

However, this does not mean the retreat experience is only available to people who can access that particular location. I can offer an adapted retreat for wheelchair users at a suitable accessible hotel, changing some elements of the format while retaining the core purpose of the retreat: time away from everyday demands, space to think, focused coaching and an experience designed around the individual.

Ashdown Forest itself also has some accessible facilities which may allow elements of the outdoor experience to be retained. The Forest Centre has a Changing Places toilet and ramp access to the Visitor Centre and deck, and there are areas of the Forest with flatter terrain and more accessible parking. Where suitable, I can design sessions around these locations and adapt the format to an individual's access needs.

I can also offer in-person coaching and longer day sessions at alternative locations where appropriate to the individual's access requirements and the suitability of the venue.

If you are considering an in-person session or retreat and have access requirements, please contact me before booking. I am happy to discuss the environment, format and possible adjustments so that we can work out what would provide an enjoyable and useful experience for you.

Feedback

Accessibility is an ongoing process rather than a finished piece of work. If you notice something that could be improved, please contact me through the website and let me know.
